Now that you've given the answers, I think I did know some of them...like petrified wood being our "Rock". Rock...that's not a rock!!! And others I should have been able to guess...but really....
I would disagree with you that petrified wood is not rock. It is definately not wood, is it???? The ice age changed the composition of the wood and made it turn into stone. You can check it out on the Alberta Government website. That is where I got all the information for the quiz.
I agree with you wholeheartedly, Momma C, and see that you did your research. When we moved into this house, we had about 25 pieces of petrified wood in the back yard, and I remember asking my parents why it was it was called wood when it was stone-like. I didn't believe their explanation at all.
I knew 9 of the answers to your quiz - I had no idea about the Grass, when the flag/shield of arms were adopted, or the fish. I have to admit, though, I knew some of these answers just from watching TV recently.

I think petrified wood should be considered our official fossil technically, but hey, what do I know?
