Update Before I Leave....

Not a whole lot going on here at the moment. I am just getting ready for my trip to Chicago. I am looking forward to it and to seeing my baby girl and Eric too. Not to sure what we will be doing there, but I hope to see at least a little bit of the 'windy city'.

I have spent most of this week making sure that I have gotten my preparations done for the big tournament in just 6 weeks. I arranged to have a meeting with the directors when I get back. I also had to make sure that there was someone to look after the pot game on Tuesday nights. That is all taken care of. The only thing that I didn't do was pre-bowl for Thursday night. I have been having trouble with one of my finger joints the last few weeks (arthritis) and is has been somewhat difficult bowling so getting in an extra 3 games in a week is not on my agenda. Hopefully Bruce will spare or find a spare for me. I'm not sure if he has found someone to spare for me on Monday either. I'm really not worried. They can always take doe scores for me. Sometimes that is better than my bowling!!!tehehehehe!!!!!

I think that the cats are going to miss me. I'm a little concerned that Oscar will not be too happy. He has become quite attached to me lately. He follows me around the house most of the day and he comes and sits on the arm of the couch when I lay down or even when I am just watching t.v. He likes me to pet him and scratch his back. Lately he's even let me tickle his tummy!!! He sure is a funny boy!!!!!!!!!!

I guess that's about all from me tonight. Just 2 more sleeps and I will be off to Chicago.

And They Say Women Are Unpredictable...

Tom and Lynette, Carlos and Gabrielle. Rumour has it that women are unpredictable. Well both Tom and Carlos proved that one wrong tonight didn't they?

Carlos certainly surprised Gaby when he didn't fly off the handle when she showed him the nude pictures of her on the internet. I don't think she really likes this NEW Carlos that much. He isn't at all predictable in Gaby's mind. She did manage to get a small rise out of him when she decided to do her yoga in the nude on the front veranda in front of the gardeners. When the one cut the others finger off with the hedge clippers, was hilarious. Especially when he was down on his hands and knees searching for the missing digit!!! At least Gabrielle got Carlos to go to the old boyfriends to get the photos back. I wonder what Gabrielle will think when she finds out that the reason Carlos put the old boyfriend through the window was because she doesn't have the 'internet porn body'? You could almost see the smoke coming out of Carlos' ears when old boyfriend said Gaby's body wasn't good enough for the internet!!!!

Tom certainly has dug himself into a big hole, don't you think? It was his decision to have Lynette go to work to support the family and for him to stay home and parent the children. Yet at the first sign of a rather serious illness, he freaks out because he never had the chicken pox!!!! Do you think that if the roles were reversed and Lynette didn't have chicken pox as a child and she was still at home with the children, would she have called Tom at work because there was an emergency at home? I think not!!! And what is this thing with men and vasectomies? Yah, yah, millions of men have them but they are always portrayed negatively on t.v. All this talk about the possibility of becoming sterile from chicken pox etc. made Tom realize he is unhappy! I don't think that he has looked at the whole picture. If something happened, god forbid, to Lynette or they divorced, would he really want more children? He is a stay-at-home dad (with no career at this time) with 4 small children. He hasn't thought about how much it costs in the long run to send them all to their private schools and onto college?

I think that we learned a couple of valuable lessons tonight though.....first, if you go out to lunch with a policeman, either don't drink or let him drive you home!!! And don't fake symptoms just to go see a doctor. You may get more than you bargained for!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah!, we cannot forget the most valuable lesson we learned was that you don't need to undress to have a MRI!!!!

This Time Next Week.....

This time next week I'll be in Chicago with Joanne and Eric. I am really looking forward to seeing them both. I'm not sure what to expect though. Apparently things haven't been going very well on the homefront for Joanne. I sure hope that it is not taking a toll on her relationship with Eric!!!! I was in Chicago once before.....well at least in O'Hare airport!!! I had to change planes there when I went to Milwaukee about 10 years ago. Now there is a city I would rather never visit again. I had the worst experience there with a taxi driver. I had traveled from Toronto that day and was tired and just wanted to get to the hotel I was staying. They had a shuttle but because I was tired, I decided on taking a cab to the hotel. That is where I was treated like an idiot. Now I understand why, but at the time it was very humiliating and it really wasn't my fault. The cab driver did not want to take me to the hotel. He was very rude and was very prejudicial toward Canadian women. But, I can be very stubborn and refused to be treated that way and made him lose his place in the que and take me to my hotel. Neither he nor the person at the information desk told me that the hotel was only 5 minutes away from the airport. Had one of them mentioned this little fact, I would have opted for the 'free' shuttle service!!!! I was so angry with the taxi driver when I got to the hotel that I was soooooo tempted to pay him in LOONIES!!!! I took my suitcase and thanked him for 'making my first impression of Milwaukee so WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!'. At least I won't have to worry about that next week as Joanne is picking me up from the airport! It will be an experience for her as she has never gone there on her own before.

Has anyone caught the new NBC series 'The Book of Daniel'? I caught the second hour last week and watched it again tonight. I think that it is NBC's answer to "Desperate Housewives'. Anyway, Daniel is an Episcopalian priest that has a VERY disfunctional family. His wife comes from a wealthy family, she has issues with her mother. Daniels father is the Bishop and his mother has Alzheimers. He has 3 children an Asian son Adam, a gay son Peter and a pot selling daughter Grace. His wife's sister was recently widowed (her husband stole 3 million dollars from the church that was slated to build a new school before he died in a car accident, I think). She is now having a lesbian relationship with her husband's secretary, who at the end of tonight's episode ran off with all of her jewelry! (leaving a lipstick written note on the living room mirror saying ' I will always love you and I'll be back!). The 3 million dollars was found my the Mafia and they will only return the money to the church if Daniel agrees to use their construction company to build the school. Daniel, as he puts it, made a deal with La Costra Nostra!!! Daniel is also addicted to 'Canadian Headache Pills', we know them as Tylenol 1's, as they have a 'little codeine in them'. If you get a chance, tune in as it is quite amusing. There are many more twists and turns to the plotlines. I don't want to give away too much.

Puddy Tats and Parties........

On Sunday, after a tournament, we invited some people over for a get-together. I made chili, taco dip, veggies and a meat and cheese platter. It was a nice time. We don't entertain very much, so this was a good thing. In all, including Bruce and I, there were 11 people in the living room. That is pretty much capacity for our small house!
Bruce, of course, entertained us all with a few of the less x-rated jokes from his Christmas present from Joanne and Eric.

As soon as the first people arrived, Oscar and Bassoon high-tailed it down the basement as they are both afraid of 'strangers'.

We didn't see either of them for a couple of hours!!!! Finally Soonie got rather 'BRAVE' and came upstairs. She probably was hungry and then she went back to her 'perch'. Oscar followed soon after and found out that these 'strangers' were not sooooo BAD! There were a couple of girls (the daughters of our friend Chris L.) who LOVE cats and wanted to play with them. They are 13 and 11 (I think), so the cats weren't too spooked at them! Then there was Clara...
She spent the whole time our guests were here going from person to person for attention. You would think that we never pay her any attention or give her any affection the way she acted!!! Thank goodness most everyone were 'cat' people. Of course all were quite fascinated by the fact that she DROOLS when she is happy and being petted!!! WHAT A SUCKY CAT!!!!! She was in her Glory, getting all the attention because the other 2 cats had disappeared.

It sure is funny though, when Jill and Ryan or Jen come over, the cats don't disappear. Yet they sure seemed to know that these people that arrived at the door on Sunday, had never been here before!!!!!

An Error of Comedies..............

Or perhaps an 'Comedy of Errors'. After nearly a month of no new 'Housewives' we had a new one last night. So here is my take on the happenings on Wisteria Lane.......

After Gabrielle plants a long passionate kiss on Tom at a party, from all the former cheerleaders to the 'band geeks', Lynette's reaction is less than understanding. She could not see the kiss as something done in fun. Then she finds out about Gaby's affair with the teenage gardener....and that makes it seem worse. The funniest part in this whole event is when Lynette and Tom are in bed and Lynette explains her feelings on the event to Tom........Tom then thinks that all the 'lonely' women on the street are secretly HOT for him. They are all fantasizing about the 'rippling muscles' under his t-shirt!!!!!!!!!!! All you women out there must have experienced that one!! Men love to fantasize that every woman out there wants him!!!! Anyway, after a couple of talks to Gabrielle about her feelings on the incident, Lynette figures the only way to get Gaby to see her point-of-view is to plant a long passionate kiss on Carlos. So then, Carlos figures Lynette would like to have an affair with him (after Gaby plants the idea that to save their marriage, Carlos should have an affair so he will get over her 'indiscretion'). Lynette is mortified!!!!!! This was truly a great storyline for this show.

Now on to the other major happening on the "Lane".....The mysterious Michael Ironside character sitting in his car outside Betty Applewhite's house. When Betty and Matthew go out, he takes the opportunity to go into the house and look for Caleb. Does anyone else think that he is a 'Bounty Hunter'? After finding Caleb restrained in the basement cell, he tries to take him away. When Caleb won't come up the stairs he heads down, with gun in hand. One of the steps breaks and he falls through and shoots himself and dies right there suspended in the hole he created in the step!!!! Very dramatic!!!! Betty and Matthew come home to find Caleb sitting at the table eating ice cream and pronouncing 'I didn't do it!'. When they find the mystery man hanging out, dead, in the step....Betty announces that after it gets dark 'we'll get rid of the body'!!! This is where the real error of comedies come in.....Matthew and Betty get the body into the trunk of his car, Matthew drops the keys in and Betty slams the trunk closed before Matthew can tell her to STOP. The next day a confrontation between Mike and Paul occurs just as Susan is leaving in her car. Susan rear ends the 'mystery mans' car which of course causes the trunk to pop open and the discovery of the 'BODY'. Betty isn't worried about the discovery until she spots Lynette, Bree, Gabrielle, Susan and Edie discussing the events!!!!

The reason the Mike and Paul were fighting was Paul found out that Zach had gone bowling with Susan, Julie and Mike (when he discovered a scoresheet in Zach's garbage can). When was the last time anyone went bowling and actually kept score on a scoresheet? I think that almost every bowling centre has automatic scorers now!!!!!!!!

2006...A New Beginning

Happy New Year Everyone!! I think that some of you had quite an exciting New Years Celebration. Ours was very quiet and rather boring. Bruce spent the WHOLE evening watching hockey games. Although, he did take me out for Chinese Food for dinner (supper) when he finally came home from the bowling centre!!

I spent the first day of 2006 cleaning our the computer room. I had been looking at it for several days trying to get the motivation to begin. Since Bruce was sitting in front of the t.v. watching FOOTBALL, I thought that it was a good day to start. I had a good idea as to what I wanted to do, so I began by moving some tools out and getting rid of 1 set of shelves and throwing out a whole bag of paper and boxes. I had stuff all over the floor as I was going through things and moving the old computer desk and a table around when Bruce came down the hall to look in. He wanted on the computer!!! DUH! Sorry, that's not possible right now. I continued working again for another hour or so, when he did the same thing. I decided to just make some neat piles, that I could easily organized later, and clear a path to the computer and call it a day!!!!!!!!! Then while Bruce sat at the computer, I started making a roast beef supper for New Years!! I know that I sound a bit picky, I have found myself quite bothered that Bruce doesn't help much around the place, unless I specifically ask him to do something at a particular moment. This is something I need to work on in the coming year. I just can't continue to do it all.

So, these are my New Year's Resolutions.....I think that they are all attainable.

1. To not be such a procrastinator.

2. To try and get Bruce to be more helpful here at home.

3. To be more dedicated to my dieting and exercise more.

And lastly, the one I will probably have the most trouble with........

4. To complete a project I start before going on to something else!!!!

I guess that's it for today. Oh, I forgot to tell you all....I bowled all 4 games over my average and WON all 4 games last night!!!! Although I was bowling a doe score. :) :) ;)
