Is Winter Upon Us????

I'm wondering if this is the beginning of winter today. It started snowing and the temperature dropped quite dramatically from last week. It was -12 when I went to Gateway today!!!! I think that last Tuesday I was wearing my denim jacket. The snow stopped for a while this afternoon and started up again tonight. I heard that the temperature is going to -19 overnight.

As the snow falls and the temperatures fall, so rises the cost of gasoline. Monday, the gas price was 74.9 per litre and when I went out this afternoon it was 81.9. Everyone I talked to tonight was pi$$ed. We all feel like we are being screwed by the government. We are!!!! There is no way that we should be paying such high prices for fuel in the province where it comes from. How can the federal government control the price of our natural resources? I was rather pleased with myself though, I filled up on Sunday when the price was at 74.9. I had a $.07 off coupon from Safeway, so for the first time in several months I payed 67.9 cents a litre for gas.

Our little Oscie is doing good. He gobbled his food down tonight when I got home (even with the antibiotic crushed in it). He seems content enough eating it now. I am making sure that I give him wet food about 3 times a day, sometimes more if he wants it. He now gets a bit of dry food also and that makes for a much happier kitten. Clara was not impressed with the cold temperatures and snow today. She really hates being inside so much. Puppy, on the other hand, likes the snow and often comes in with his 'snowy nose'. I just hope that his bald tummy doesn't freeze!!! Bassoon was quite interested in looking out the door to see what was going on when I let Clare-clare and Puppy out tonight! It's funny, she seems more interested in the outdoors the last few months than she ever did before.

That's it for tonight. Must get some rest and try to get rid of this cold I have. My nose has been running constantly the last 2 days!!! YUCK!!!

Congratulations to the Edmonton Eskimos on their victory over the Montreal Alouettes in yesterdays exciting Grey Cup game!!!!

It was a 38 to 35 overtime victory for our Eskies!!!!!!!!!

We are still the 'City of Champions'.

Oscar Update

Oscar spent the whole day at the vet's yesterday. I had him there by 7:45 am and I picked him up at 5:00 pm. He was there for a urine specimen and of course he wouldn't go for them! Eventually they had to get the sample with a needle. He has an infection and must be on antibiotics for another 2 weeks. Twice a day I crush his pill into his food and mix it into the gravy. Fun times!

The poor little guy wasn't at all happy with me yesterday morning. I had to tip his carrier on end and drop him into it. As soon as we walked out the door he started crying and cried all the way to the vet's. Thank goodness it's not very far. When I went to pick him up, they brought him out and as soon as he saw me he cried and the tech gave him to me and he was very cuddly! When they brought his carrier back he went right in (like he knew that he was going home). There was hardly and crying on the way home at all!!! I really think that they know exactly what's going on and that they are going home. When we got home, the first thing he did was gobble done his food and then have the longest bath!

I guess we will be doing the same thing in a couple of weeks, as soon as he has finished his drugs. If he still has bacteria in his urine, we will have to have a culture run and see if he is resistant to the antibiotics. His crystals seem to have cleared up with the food he's on and he has to stay on it for a while. He can have small amounts of dry too, so now he's happier with me.

Our Crazy Weather???

I think that I should take back what I said a few months ago about 'Global Warming'. The last week has been incredibly beautiful here. One day last week it reached 18 C. This morning at 8:00 am it was 12 C. It's almost the end of November!! No snow on the ground and the past several nights it hasn't even gone below freezing. Are we going to be in for a nasty December and January?

When I left for Gateway this afternoon at about 4:30, they said that it had started to cool off since the sun had started to set. It was 15 degrees C!!! Even the wind was warm today. I don't even know what the daytime high was today. During this nice weather the wind has been quite cold standing out in it. But today was different. The rest of the week is supposed to be mild too. Even the long range forecast is good. The coldest temperature I saw was -2. (I wrote all this on Tuesday) Apparently we had 10 straight days of record high temperatures!!!!!!

Not much else going on right now. Oscar is doing good. The other 'critters' are all as well as can be expected. Clara has been very happy with the mild temperatures and has been spending most of her time outside. Toodle Bug (Soonie) is just as lazy as ever, the only time she runs is when Oscar chases her. Puppy is okay too. I am going to have to try and cut the hair on his paws. It is sooooo long. If it snows he will get his feet too snowy and will freeze them and then melt and be too wet when he comes inside. He seems to have stopped loosing his hair as much. His tummy is still pretty bald, so I don't know if he will need a sweater to go out in the cold! Since he can't walk too far, I'm sure he'll come inside if he's too cold!

Now it's Friday and I just took Oscar to the vet to get his urnine re-checked. Poor baby, he cried all the way there in the car and looked soooooooooo sad when I left him. At least I'm not worried that he might have a blockage today. He took the biggest pee I've ever seen him take last night! It had to be a half a cup at least!!!!!!!

I am having quite a bit of back pain today and last night. I must have turned the wrong way at bowling last night and sort of put my back out. Had a terrible first game but then bowled great the second and third (182 and190) even had 5 strikes in a row in the last game!!!! First time in many years for that!!!!!!

Best close for now. Will post later today or tomorrow to update on Oscie baby!!!

Scrambled Thoughts

Did anyone else notice that the plotlines on D.H. were a little scrambled tonight??? Gaby leaves to go shopping in the middle of the afternoon. Next thing is Betty and her son in the kitchen and he is 'going out to look for Caleb' in the middle of the night. Then Bree and George are out to dinner and dancing. Next Gaby come home from shopping and the hairdressers and the ex-con takes her to the park to say goodbye to her babies spirit. Lastly it's night again and Mike catches Caleb and get him arrested and everyone is out on the street. I sort of forgot that in the middle of all these happenings Susan's mom marries for the fourth time to Morty and reveals the truth about Susan's father!

Anywho, the Eskimo's are going (if not staying) to Vancouver for the 'Grey Cup' next Sunday. I said if not staying because that is where they played today. It seems kind of silly to come home and then head back there again in the next few days. I suppose they must collect their wives and some clean clothes and of course get their uniforms washed! hahahaha!!! Did you know that it was the first time in the Eskies history that they won the right to go to the Grey Cup when they were third in the west? Had to win 2 away games to get to go!

Hockey announcers are the worst! They can really come up with some unintelligent comments. One of the dumbest things I have ever heard was on last night's Toronto/Atlanta game. After the 2nd period break, when Toronto was leading 5 to 1 the announcer said, 'Toronto really has this game in hand.' Can you imagine? My immediate reaction was, really, I thought Atlanta was in complete control!!! Then there is my all-time pet peeve: It's a 1-1 tie (or 2-2 or 3-3 etc). have you ever heard of a 2-1 tie? or better yet a 3-1 tie? I just wish they would say the game is tied at_____!!!! Then in the Edmonton/Chicago game the Blackhawks were up 1-0 when Edmonton scored a goal. The announcer said 'Edmonton sure needed that goal to get even!' What a revelation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said in my title tonight, 'Scrambled Thoughts'. I think it's all the Advil Cold and Sinus I've been taking to try and relieve the pressure in my head that made me go all over the planet tonight.

Lastly, Oscar is doing pretty good. He just came in and sat on the other chair next to me. He has been quite affectionate with me of late. He has even started 'doing my hair' like Soonie in the morning to get me up to feed him. The other morning I woke up and there was Oscar on the arm of the couch with his 2 little paws on my head, too funny. Sometimes I think that he is going to come sit with me, but he thinks better of it. (I'm sure he just doesn't want us to think that he enjoys a cuddle every now and then)

Time to get some rest I think!

An Update of Sorts!!

Oscie seems to be doing better again today. He is really starting to get pi$$ed at me for not giving him dry cat food though!!!!!!!!!!! I think that I am going to have to get some of the special dry food for him just to make him happier. All he does is lick all the gravy off of his wet food and leaves the meat chunks in the dish! I have thrown out quite a bit of his food in the last couple of days. Not a Good Thing!! He must be getting hungry, don't you think??????

Bruce did not quit any of his leagues this week. In fact he bowled very well on Tuesday night!

I had kind of a bad night last night and was somewhat down about it today. I received an e-mail from one of the Board members on the Edmonton Youth Association. She was rather nasty because I sent in some forms to sanction the tournament and she felt that I was taking over her job! Well if this person would respond to any of her e-mails, this might not have happened!!!!!!! I have the support of most everyone else, so she can just go F off!!!

Porno on Whisteria Lane!!!???!!!

What did you think of the goings-on on Whisteria Lane tonight? I sure laughed at the whole storyline of the X-rated home video tape that was brought over to Lynette and Tom's. It was a riot!! Especially when the two of them went over to see the parents of the other twin boys and after they were shown 'the room', they decided that there would be NO more playdates for the twins!!!! Wasn't that the funniest thing when the other mother was on the front steps playing peek-a-boo with Penny? Lynettes face was priceless!!

Now 'psycho George' has murdered 2 people!!! When will Bree start to express her real feelings to him? Do you think that he will go after her by the end of the season? Who is going to be her confidant now? Certainly not George! Does anyone recognize the actress who plays his mother? If you remember "Another World", you should!

How long is it going to be before Caleb is caught and everyone finds out the truth about Betty and Matthew? Who will be his next victim?

I am guessing that we are not going to see Gaby get bigger. From the preview for next week, I think that she is going to lose the baby! It was rather touching when she sent Bree back into the house for the ultasound photo though. Just when she was starting to get used to the idea of becoming a mother and quite possibly loving it!!

I told Bruce tonight that he had better behave or he wouldn't get any ice cream!!!!!!! Scary thought that the psycho Caleb loves ice cream as much as my Bruce!!!!

Until my next update on the happenings on Desperate Housewives!!!! Or at least until I post again.

An Update On The Baby!

I just thought I would give you all a quick update on our little baby today!! He seems to be doing better. He is not at all happy with me because I won't give him any dry cat food. He is supposed to stay on the wet dissolution formula for 14 days. Then his diet is supposed to be mainly 'wet' food and dry given as a treat. I don't know how that is going to work out with the other cats around. It should be fun! Then there's the Puppy... he seems to think that I should allow him to eat whatever Oscie doesn't eat or at least leaves in his dish. Right now he is barking at the blockade I do to keep him away from Oscar and his food! It's quite annoying. I have to crush Oscar's pill into the food, because I am not proficient at giving cats pills at all. Oscar needs to eat it not Radar!

Joanne, can you imagine our little boy eating 2 cans of cat food a day???? That is the recommended amount for his weight. He doesn't even really like it that much. He licks all the 'gravy' off and then leaves the chunks of meat. He does eventually eat the meat, but he really doesn't like it! I have to take him into the vet on the 25th for a check on his urine. That means taking him in at 7:30 am and leaving him until he piddles for them.

An Evening at the Emergency Vet!

Tonight I had to take our little Oscie into the Emergency Vet!! He was a little lethargic last night, so I kept an eye on him all day today. This evening I noticed that he was squatting in the living room and that there was a bit of pee on the kitchen floor. I was wondering if I should take him in or just watch him until morning and take him in to our vet. Then in almost the same spot on the kitchen floor (where only a few minutes before I had wiped up the piddle) there was a bit more, only this time it was rather red in colour. I got out the carrier and Oscie proceeded to go hide in the basement. I did a very smart thing though, I got a syringe and got a bit of the piddle into it to take to the animal hospital. They were impressed that I had the forethought to do that. After searching for the little monkey for about 20 minutes, he finally came out of his hiding spot and Bruce and I managed to get him into the carrier.

The poor little guy absolutely hates the car and cried all the way over there. After the vets checked him out, they decided that he was not blocked and did an urinalysis on the tiny sample I brought in. Even after being on the prescription food since February, our little Oscie has crystals in his urine again. Now the little guy has to stay on the dissolution formula for 2 weeks and get some X-rays. They want to rule out stones that could be dissolving slowly and causing the crystals. That could also cause a large enough crystal to break off and cause another blockage. We sure don't want that to happen!! He also is on antibiotics twice a day for the next week and 1 anti-inflammatory for the next 3 days.

He was really good at the hospital. The vets had a hard time getting a heart rate though because he was purring so loudly!!! Oscar is such a purry kitten anyway. Did you know that a cat purrs not only when they are content, but when they are stressed????? That was what I learned today!! After his exam he was very curious about the examining room and jumped off the table and inspected the whole room and settled on the floor under the little rolling cart. I wished I had my camera to take a picture of him!

I guess that's about all for tonight. I'm tired and should try to get some sleep soon. I must keep an eye on the little guy and I hope that he gets back to his old self real soon.

I Finally Got It and a Lot of Bit**ing!!

Well after nearly a week of going over the financials for our Thursday league, I finally got it figured out!!! I'm so happy with myself!!! I certainly hope that the rest of the season goes more smoothly. Now that I know what to look for and where to look and have asked lots of questions, I'm hoping that everyone will be a bit more careful on what goes into the cash register at the bowling centre.

I have come to the conclusion that there are people in this world that can never be happy. Last night during Bruce's bowling league, he had a disagreement with the bowler he was bowling against and it caused quite a stir in the centre. I missed the whole thing because I went outside for a smoke break and when I came back in I was busy doing the pot game. I had noticed that the other bowler was not very friendly during the games, but didn't think too much about it. He accused Bruce of setting the shot up for himself... Funny thing though, Bruce doesn't have the high average, series or even single in the league. He definitely doesn't have the highest average for a lefty. So after this guy abused Bruce, he told him to shut the f**k up and bowl. Another bowler on the next pair of lanes heard this and went after Bruce. It came close to a real fight I guess. Now Bruce is considering quitting bowling! I hate it! I can't understand why a lot of these bowlers don't realize that Bruce doesn't do things at the centre for himself, but for the betterment of the game and the other bowlers. If he did everything for himself then he could win all the tournaments, awards etc. The best part of this whole thing is that he has been doing a special lane dressing for this guy as a favour. Guess what???? No more favours.

I am quite angry with the events of last night. Bruce has finally gotten me back into bowling again and he is thinking about quitting! I think that the most hurtful thing that was said was " Why don't you go back to Medicine Hat, or wherever you came from?"
I even feel like quitting doing the pot games for that league. I spend quite a bit of time doing it each Tuesday. I run around during the league collecting the money, getting all the scores and doing all the tallying and pay-outs. There are lots of weeks that I hold on to someone's money because they didn't want to wait around until everyone was done. I have also tracked all the score this year and decide to run a second pot for the handicapped side. Now, because of this I feel like saying you guys do it yourself, I'm just here to watch.

Bowling mechanics are not well liked by the regular customers. It's always their fault that the bowler bowls bad. The shot changed, the machines broke down, your dressing the lanes for yourself. These so-called knowledgeable bowlers, can't figure out that the weather change, humidity change or even themselves can affect the conditions of the lanes. If they bowl good, it's all their so-called 'talent' and 'ability'. If they bowl bad it all the lanes and the mechanic's fault. I wonder if the baseball player who didn't hit that homerun in the bottom of the ninth to win the game blames the pitcher who struck him out or the the field maintenance people for whatever reason they can come up with? Maybe it was the umpire's fault that he swung at a pitch and missed!!!

Anyway that's enough bitc*ing for tonight! On a happier note, Joanne got a job teaching preschool in the Chicago area. She is very happy after her first day. She says that it was the most welcomed she has ever felt at a new job! I'm glad. I was getting worried that she was bored and not that happy there!

Silly Baby Oscar Today!!!!

Today when I was cleaning the bathroom, I emptied the toilet paper bag and threw it in the hallway while I continued straightening up. I heard some noises and really didn't think too much about it. Usually it is Bassoon sitting on the bag, so when I went out into the hall I was surprised to see that Oscar had climbed right into the T.P. bag. I thought that it was so cute! I was a little concerned, as his little nose was pressed up against the end of the bag, that he might suffocate himself if he stayed in there for very long. I ran and got the scissors and cut 2 large holes in the bag before going to get my camera. Here are the pictures I took of the little guy today.......

He certainly can be a silly little kitten!!!

What Do You Think of Happenings On Whisteria Lane?

Well Bree's decision to sleep with George doesn't seem to be what she really wanted to do. Her psyche was saying NO! NO! NO! but I think that she is really afraid of being alone. Do you think that George took advantage of her when she was passed out? Was it really antihistamines he gave her or Rufies? I think that George is quite the slime bucket!!! YUCK!!

Poor Susan! I knew that her decision to send Zach off to Utah would catch u with her and cause a HUGE problem with Mike. Paul had better watch his back! Lynette's new suit storyline was hilarious. I think that her decision to keep it was the right one. Whoever heard of not buying a new suit (dress) for work in six years!! Tom was way out of line on that one. Her way of getting him convinced to keep the suit was 'priceless'. What man could turn down a new set of golf clubs (or bowling ball, video game system).

Gabrielle is quite the piece of work. How long do you figure the time-line has been on the show since the end of last season, when Carlos was put in jail, and the present? Any normal female would probably be showing at least a little paunch!! But Gaby can continue to wear these skimpy little sexy suits and tops like she is not at all pregnant! I must say her little trickery with the lawyer was quite good. Telling him that they could have an affair because she would never divorce Carlos (as she is Catholic) was great. When he agreed, she told him that he really wasn't in love with her because he wouldn't have given up on them being together. I guess we will see if he is in court for the next appearance of Carlos.

My Weekend Alone????

So my weekend alone with the 'critters' seems to have gotten cut short. I had a nap yesterday after supper, so I was wide awake after midnight. I thought I would take a different approach to the financials for Thursday's league and was going through the payment sheets when at 3 am I heard something at the back door. It was somewhat scary, but I went and looked and there was Bruce coming in. He didn't bowl too well and he and his friend Fred (who went down with him) decided to come back. So a Sunday without NFL football is now out of the question!!!!

My Weekend Alone, so far!

This is the beginning of my weekend alone. It's the first weekend I have spent by myself in quite a long time. I guess that I'm really not totally alone, what with the Puppy, Clara, Bassoon and Oscar here, all asking for some attention or food, treats etc. I have things to do, but it is getting the get-up-and-go to do them. I will try to get a few things done though.

I spent the 'whole' day yesterday trying to figure out the financials for our Thursday night league. It's crazy, the accounting system. It should be relatively easy, but for the life of me, I can't seem to get it balanced! It all has to do with pre-bowls. There is something else that I can't figure out....why some people think that they can come to bowl and NOT pay! You can't go to a restaurant or movie and not pay for the service. What gives these people the right to think that it's okay to go and bowl and not pay for their night of entertainment? It's mind-boggling to me. It also causes a bookkeeping nightmare!

So I left this posting for most of the day and now I guess I should finish it. My exciting day was spent going to Wal Mart and then to Safeway to fill up my car (which I didn't do because it was so busy and when I found a pump on the right side, it was out of order!!). Had to go to Wally World (as Bruce calls it) to get Puppy some food, laundry detergent and a few other things that make a trip there worthwhile. There are certain things that I get there because they are so much cheaper than everywhere else. Case in point...I take glucosamine for my arthritis pain and the other day ,while at London Drugs, it was about $26.00 for 150 capsules. Today at Wal Mart a bottle of their brand of 300 capsules was about $14.00. That alone make a trip there worthwhile. I have been craving KFC for the past few days. Bruce doesn't really care for it, so today I thought that would be a good supper for me and puppy. Not a very exciting day!!!

I watched a good movie this evening though, 'Vera Drake'. Girls, if you get a chance, watch it. It's not really a movie that men would like though. I found it a little hard to catch all the talking at first as it is a British film and the Cockney accents were a bit hard to catch on to at first. It is a good movie though.

Guess that's about it for me tonight! Remember, everyone, tomorrow is 'Desperate Housewives' night. I hope that it is good and maybe I'll have something more exciting to write about.

'Night all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Day in the Life.....

I thought that tonight I would change the colour of my writing. For some reason this forest green colour caught my eye when choosing the text colour. I have a feeling that this will be somewhat of a rambling thought tonight.

We had bowling tonight. For the first 1/2 of the first game I thought that it might be a good night. WRONG!!!! Once again I lost all my matches. I am O for 12 in the last 3 weeks. Kind of discouraging. I am getting better though. I haven't been throwing as many gutter balls this year. But my games are not really good and I think Bruce may want to put me on the trading block!!!! I'm sure he wonders why I don't come in and practice!!! I just barely make it through the 7 games I bowl each week. That's enough for me.

There's a big 'Open' Tournament in Calgary this weekend, but I am going to stay home with the Critters. Puppy isn't doing that great that I can leave him at home all day and have one of the girls come over and let him out and feed him. Since he's moving quite a bit slower these days, I don't think it would be wise to take him to Jill's. I think that would be too traumatic for him. Then there are the felines. They require food and water also. So, I'll just stay at home with them and have a quiet weekend with NO sports on the television!!!! hahahahahahahaha

Did everyone have a good Halloween? There were a few costumes at the bowling centre tonight. None of the regular bowlers though! No candies in this house either! I didn't buy any Halloween treats at all. I wonder if it was busy here in the neighbourhood? The weather was rather nice. Kind of cool, but no rain or snow!

It was awful driving to bowling this evening. With the time change yesterday, it was dusk at 4:45 when I was heading over there. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that it's a good idea to extend daylight savings. I guess that the research show that it won't help keep down the utility costs, but at least it wouldn't be dark so early.

Can't think of much else to talk about at this time. Maybe tomorrow will bring on something inspirational. Time for sleep now.
