Oilers vs. Dora ????????

Okay, okay, these Stanley Cup playoffs are getting so much newstime and new controversy each and every day!!!

Today, it was announced that there is a conflict for Game 6 on June 17th with 'Dora the Explorer'. They also announced that they will have a contingency plan by tomorrow morning. The Oilers President said that the series could be over by then and then there won't be a problem!!! We'll see.

Also today, the man in charge of crowd control with the Edmonton Police Service was relieved of his duties today after the fiasco on Whyte ave on Saturday night/Sunday morning. He was replaced with the head of the 'Riot Squad'. Anyway now the crowd control guy is livid at the way this was all handled, as is the police union.

What gives some of these people the right to head down to Whyte ave and cause all these problems, anyway? There were idiots hanging from power lines and then falling to the ground. There were guys climbing the light standards and acting like complete fools. Then there was all the damage to property. A telephone booth was overturned and fires set. Then the windows on some of the businesses along Whyte ave were broken. Now business owners must pay thousands of dollars to repair their windows!! Is this fair? Let's charge all these offenders and make them pay for the damages that they caused and also let them pay from there own pockets any medical bills that are incurred when doing such STUPID things!!!!

I certainly hope that with all this airtime that this fiasco has gotten, that the crowds heading down to Whyte ave over the next few weeks will behave in a more appropriate manner. We don't want to have our fair city shown to the country in such an awful manner. After all, the Edmonton Oilers are not only representing our city but our province and our country.

The Oilers Flu Bug?????????

I wonder if the Oilers flu bug can be transferred through the television very quickly???? I woke up yesterday morning with a feeling of severe nausea. I ate a few crackers hoping that this would settle my stomach down, but to no avail. An hour later I was throwing my guts up and had the runs too. When Bruce called me yesterday afternoon to tell me he was going to watch the game at Gateway, I said that I had the 'Oilers Flu'!!!! I felt terrible all day. Finally around 8:00 pm, I decided to eat something. I poached a couple of eggs and had some toast. I kept that down!! Hooray!!!!!!!!! Then I laid down on the couch and fell asleep for a few hours. Today I feel a bit better, no nausea and no runs, thank goodness!!!

I guess I should go and try to do something around here. I really need to go and get a few groceries and have a bite to eat. I am going to try and have a coffee right away, the first one in 2 days!!!!!

I hope that the Oilers are over their flu bug and can wrap that series up in Anaheim tomorrow night!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Oilers Go !!!!!!

The Season Finale.............

Did You catch the season finale of D.H. last night??? There were quite a few twists and turns in the storylines, weren't there?

There certainly was a lot of discussion on the Tom and Lynette situation last week. I did come to the conclusion that there must have been an illegitimate child involved, although I was thinking that the child was ill and that was why Tom and the woman were going upstairs. I really don't think that Tom would be responsible for back child support for a child that he did not know existed until a few months ago.

Bree's rest in the looney bin didn't last too long. I think that she had better check herself back in once Danielle is okay. Better yet, maybe they both could use a 'rest'. That certainly was quite the twist in the Betty/Matthew/Caleb storyline. All this time we all thought that Caleb was the murderer and it turned out to be Matthew. It also puts a different light on what happened with Gabrielle when Caleb broke into her house.

The Gaby/Carlos/Charmay story has gotten a little silly if you ask me. Carlos sleeping with Charmay is crazy. When Gabrielle told Charmay of the plan to have her be the surrogate to the baby, she was horrified at being 'ruined'. Now she has lost her virginity to Carlos!!!!

Zach......what a crazed young man he has turned back into. Murdering his grandfather and now he is the sole heir to his fortune. That can be nothing but trouble. He certainly turned against his 'father', Paul quickly.

Susan, poor Susan. Will she move into the house that Carl bought for 'his girls' because she'll think that Mike stood her up????? And what about that Orson guy? There are a whole lot of secrets yet to be uncovered there. He seems to be interested in Bree and she will probably get involved with yet another crazy man! Do you think that Orson killed Mike when he ran him over? I hope not!!

I guess we will have to wait until September to find out all the answers. I heard that 6 cast members were not returning for season 3. Well Betty, Caleb and Matthew are gone for sure. Noah, Zach's grandfather, is also gone (I wonder if he counts as he's not a true regular). Possibly Paul will be stranded in jail. That makes 5 possibles and Mike would be 6. I guess we'll see.

Happy 2nd Anniversary Joanne and Eric!!!!

I have been rather neglectful of my blog as of late. I have been suffering with another attack of sciatic nerve inflammation in my left leg, this time. It has been quite uncomfortable sitting at the computer this week. It is better today, thank goodness!!!

I want to wish Joanne and Eric a 'Happy Anniversary' tomorrow. Can you believe that it's been 2 years already? I didn't hear what the weather was like in Kananaskis this weekend.

I have added a few photos that I took this past week..... Here is Daisy, a very happy looking puppy, on Mother's Day.

This past week we had some extremely HOT weather. One day, I think Wednesday, it went to 31 C..... a record. Our little Puddy Tats were having a hard time with the temperature in the house and they kept sprawling out on the floor, trying to get cool. Here is Oscar sprawled out in front of the front door window, hoping for a bit of a breeze......

Here is Bassoon layed out in the front entrance hoping to find a bit of a breeze too. I think that the heat really got to her this week. She was acting strange for a few days.

As far as I know, it is still 1-0 for Edmonton in tonight's hockey game. Bruce and Joe are in the livingroom watching it. I was outside of a bit cleaning out my pots and planting some flowers in them. I was getting eaten by mosquitos though, so I came inside.

I suppose that's it for tonight. I can't wait for the season finale of D.H. tonight. As long as the hockey game doesn't go into overtime, I'll be able to watch it in the livingroom. Otherwise I get kicked out to the bedroom to watch T.V.

Joanne's Game

Here is my answer to Joanne's Game of ten word beginning with the letter "C" (my pick).

1. Christine- my name given to me by my parents. I guess it means a lot to me since it is who I am, although I much prefer to go by Chris, although this nickname was given to me in grade 9 by my homeroom teacher!

2. Children- I am blessed with 3 children, daughers, all grown up and married. So now my children have grown to 6 wonderful adult children, all of whom I love dearly. I am hoping to have some grandChildren sometime in the future.

3. Cats- I have 3 silly cats! If you are a reader of my blog, then you know all about them and have seen their photos here.

4. Car- I am very attached to my car. I hated it when my Cavalier was written-off and I did not have my own car. It took away my independence.

5. Candles- I love candles! I forget to burn them though! This week was Bruce's birthday and we had candles on his cake. Only 11 (5 and 6 grouped together) though because if I had put 56 candles on his 'Black Raspberry Cheesecake Ice Cream Pie' it would have melted!!! tehehehe

6. Cheese- One of my favourite foods. I love 'grilled cheddar cheese' sandwiches. I'm not fond of really strong cheeses and am totally turned off by 'blue cheese'.

7. Calgary- This is the city I lived in for 6 years. It was where I wanted to be, but it just wasn't home. I'm glad to be back here!!!!

8. Camera- My Digital camera is one gift that Bruce gave me that I use all the time!!! I love taking pictures and printing them off my Camera right here at home.

9. Chicken- Fried, Baked, Broiled, barbecued, in a salad, sandwich or soup.........I love it any way. Bruce doesn't enjoy it as much as I do, so we don't eat as much as I like too!

10. Challenge- This game was a challenge to me. Even though Joanne thought that the letter 'C' was too easy it took me a while to come up with 10 different words. The first few were easy, the last 4 or 5 much more difficult. I really enjoy a challenge once in a while!!!!!

I've come up with an idea !?!?!?!?!?????

After reading Joanne's Entry re: her day yesterday, I have come up with an idea for a pair of shoes/sandals.

Somehow if we could design a pair of shoes with a secret compartment in the sole that would be just large enough to hold a...................KEY. Now, at first I was thinking of designing a shoe with a zippered compartment in it, but that is not practical with the size of some car keys these days. The compartment could have an opening that is covered with a screw on cover to keep the key in. What do you think of this????

It's got to be better than an extra key in your purse, that can easily be locked into the car along with your keys. It certainly is better than those old 'Hide-a-key' thingies that you attach to the underside of your car with a magnet!!! You always have shoes on when out and about in the car. I know the drawback is when you wear different shoes. Well, no plan/invention is absolutely perfect, is it???????

My Day and Desperate Housewives....

Today I went to watch one of Bruce's Slo Pitch games. It was not good. They lost 17 to 3. They have some rule in the league that there must be 3 females playing, so one of the girls was playing injured. She was the catcher and it was SAD :( :( :(. She could not run and therefore, missed several very easy plays.

After the game I went out and bought some new underwear and p.j.'s. I was in dire need of new undies and I am tired of wearing these baggy old nightgowns I've had for a few years. I think that I will get rid of them now!!! Also time to clean out the underwear drawer and get rid of the old, worn out things.

Bruce and I have been back on 'South Beach' phase 1 since Tuesday. It's going pretty good, although I did have a bowl of cereal one morning. We have been eating lots of steak, chicken, salad and tonnes of vegies.

Did you catch D.H. tonight???? Is Caleb plotting against Matthew? I missed almost all of the show last week as I couldn't keep my eyes open!!! :( Way to go Bree!!!!!!!!!!!! Dropping Andrew off at some remote gas station with a bag and some money (to tide him over until he gets a job). He certainly asked for that one, by sleeping with Bree's new boyfriend (who is both an alcoholic and a SEX addict!!!). And what's with Lynette and Tom? What was he doing in Atlantic City???? Ed sure is an a$$hole. I don't think Lynette will last too much longer in that job. The craziest one on the show is Edie, don't you think? What ever possessed her to burn down Susan's house? What if Julie had been in it? It wasn't really Susan's fault that Carl and Susan slept together. He is a jerk and they should all be glad to be rid of him!!!

But my favourite storyline has got to be the Carlos/Gabrielle/Chinese maid storyline. It's a riot. I think that Gaby is becoming my favourite character. She is totally self-serving and just plain spoiled. The look on Carlos' face when Gabrielle told him that the maid (who is becoming the surrogate mother for them) was a virgin and then the nurse coming into the waiting room and saying that it was time for him to supply his DNA was priceless. His answer to her about movies and magazine will be provided if needed was great. After glancing at the maid...."That won't be necessary!"

A Bit of This and A Bit of That

The warm weather season must be here, thank goodness!! We had our first fire last Saturday night. It was really nice. I sat out there for hours after Bruce went in to watch the dumb Hockey game. We roasted a few hot dogs and sat there for quite some time. Then on Sunday it was cold and not so nice. I think that is the way it's supposed to be again this weekend.

In case anyone doesn't know the Edmonton Oilers have advanced to the second round in the playoffs (beating the 'President Cup' winner Detroit Red Wings). Much to Bruce's dismay, his beloved Calgary flame lost the 7th game in their series to Anaheim. He has been in mourning for the last few days!!! He really wanted to see the Oilers and Flames play and revive the Alberta rivalry.

Last night was a real treat for me....there was NO Hockey on the television for the first time in 2 weeks. Not that there was really anything else on other than CSI and Without a Trace. I'm not into Survivor or any of the other so called 'reality shows'.

Bowling season is officially over!!! We finished last Thursday, but don't have our banquet until the 12th. The Monday and Tuesday leagues had their banquets together on Monday night at the Sutton Place hotel. The meal was great, but the presentations took too long! I went out for a smoke, and as I went out the door a chartered bus had just arrived and had begun unloading. The first man off looked awfully familiar to me. The woman I was with said it was the "Detroit Red Wings". They sure were a bunch of very unhappy looking men coming off the bus, having just lost the series to the Oilers. That was rather exciting!!!

Not much else has been happening here. Bruce 'power raked' the front lawn last Friday. He plans on doing the backyard tomorrow. He is playing 'Slow Pitch' on Sunday's now. Gateway has a team and they play on Sunday afternoon's (2 games). I guess that our Sundays are shot for now!!!

I have been having trouble with my sinuses lately. They are constantly plugged. I went to WalMart tonight and got some Actifed to see if that gives me some relief. Advil Cold and Sinus has stopped working for me. I think that it is possibly springtime allergies.

Well that's about it for now. Better go for tonight................
