Poor Bruce!

Poor Bruce. He has been going through serious computer withdrawal for the past week. Last Wednesday I went into the computer room and found the monitor BLACK. After crashing the computer to get it to shut off I couldn't get it re-booted! After much trying and a few phone calls we thought it was the power pack that died.

Bruce came home on Thursday afternoon with a power pack from one of Gateways computers to try, to No avail. So he took the CPU to work with him to see if the computer tech that works for Gateway could see what was possibly wrong. He looked at it on Friday and I guess the mother board is screwed. I thought we might have to buy a new desk top, but hopefully we just need to get a mother board.

So, for the last week Bruce hasn't been able to play his Texas Hold-em :( I think he was going to try to play on my laptop yesterday, but he couldn't get it running:) :) He didn't realize that he had to plug in the wireless mouse! lol That's good though, as he has been told that there is absolutely NO poker allowed on my laptop.

In other news.... I was in Calgary yesterday for an Alberta Ten Pin meeting. What a long day!!!! Left home here at 7:30 am and arrived in Calgary about 11:30 am for a noon meeting that finished at 6:00 pm. Had dinner before leaving Calgary and got back home at about 10:45 pm. So today I've been really LAZY!

Saturday August 18th, I'm not sure why this did not post on my blog last week!!! Bruce is still without his Internet. We put a new motherboard in the computer and it is running except he can't get an Internet connection. WEIRD

It Just Doesn't Seem Right!

As we all know over the past few years traffic violation fines have increased by leaps and bounds. Red light fines are nearly $300. Speeding fines in construction zones double. I don't even know what the cost is for speeding is, but I'm sure they are quite hefty.

Tonight I heard something on the news that made me quite angry and wondering where the heads of our lawmakers are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday there was an accident here in the city where a car ran a stop sign and was hit or hit another car. Inside the one vehicle was a young family with a 3 year old and an 18 month old. The youngest child was badly injured because his car seat wasn't properly tethered to the car seat. On the news report they said that the driver of the car could possibly be facing charges for improperly installing the child's car seat. The fine for this....................$115.00.

Now I realize that running red light is very dangerous and speeding and getting into an accident can lead to serious injuries or death. But surly, these traffic violations do not warrant having fines of double or more than having a child seat improperly tethered.

Do you suppose that it is easier to catch a speeder or installing a red light camera, so therefore the municipalities can collect a great deal more money with less work &/or manpower than worrying about child seats?

I think that that is a crime!

Our Weekend Project!

This was the long weekend project at our house. New front sidewalk and steps down the hill. The 3 guys sitting on the front steps are from left to right, Joe, Joel and Bruce. These 3 guys did a lot of the work starting on Tuesday with the pick-up of the blocks. Thank goodness Ryan was able to come over yesterday afternoon to give Bruce and Joey a hand as Joel had other plans. This project was completed in just 2 short weeks from the initial discussion as to what to do with our front sidewalk/steps that were in horrendous shape.

Now if you're wondering what we are going to do with the OLD sidewalk.....we are going to take up all the old, broken blocks and make a dry creek bed with river rock. The front steps have already been covered and filled in with dirt that was taken out of the new area! I think it will look good when we get it done.

Now, this week I need to make arrangements to get a couple of trees cut down and some branches trimmed. Once that is done we will be well on our way. We are discussing building a wrap around deck next year. We will definitely start earlier!

My eyes are very heavy so I guess I'm off.
